What worked and what didn't in 2024 - Health

2min Read ⏰
2024 was a year of experimentation—testing new habits, analysing results, and figuring out what actually moves the needle for longevity and performance. Some things worked really well, and others… well, they didn’t. The biggest takeaway? I don’t need more hacks—I need more consistency. Here’s the breakdown.
✅ What Worked
1. Electrolytes – Instant Impact
I’ve always known hydration was important, but actually getting my electrolytes right made a huge difference. Less energy dips, fewer cramps, better performance—felt the difference immediately. It’s now a non-negotiable part of my day. Highly recommend. These are the exact ones I use.
2. Sleep – The Real MVP
When I committed to asleep by 10:30 PM and awake by 7 AM, everything got better—energy, focus, recovery. No surprises here, but the real lesson? Sleep isn’t just important—it’s the foundation. Without it, nothing else works properly.
3. Diet – 10kg Down, Lessons Re-learned
2024 reconfirmed what I already knew: diet is king. I cleaned up my food, locked in my macros, and dropped 10kg. This wasn’t about extreme restriction—just consistency. And once again, the 80/20 rule held true: 80% diet, 20% exercise. If you want to change how you feel and perform, start with food.
❌ What Didn’t Work
1. Exercise – Injury Struggles
I spent most of the year working around an injury, which limited my training. The takeaway? Being consistent is more important than going all-out. I need to prioritise recovery and mobility, not just push through.
2. Consistency – The Missing Piece
I now know what works for me. The problem? Sticking to it every day, not just when I feel motivated. In 2025, that’s the focus—lock in the good habits and make them automatic.
3. Tracking & Data – Helpful, But Not Forever
I tracked my food in MyFitnessPal… for two weeks. It helped reset my habits, but beyond that? Unsustainable. Use it to build awareness, not micromanage your life.
I also ditched my Whoop in November. After 12 months, I learned what actually affects my recovery—alcohol, sleep, stress—but do I need daily HRV data to tell me that? Probably not. If you’re an athlete, maybe. If you’re just trying to live well? Listen to your body.
Final Thoughts: 2025 = Consistency & Execution
2024 was about learning what works. 2025 is about doing it—every day, no excuses. Small, consistent actions over time = real results.
